What is Prayer?

Prayer is the spiritual practice in which we individually experience our oneness with God. Prayer provides us an opportunity to take time and turn our attention to our inner world where we can rest in the comfort and peace of God. When we are quiet and receptive, we will have a personal encounter with our Creator. In this divine relationship, we present ourselves in undefended and self-disclosing ways, and we receive the awe-inspiring blessing of God’s Self-Revelation to us. The more often we invest ourselves in daily prayer the more satisfying these experiences become for us.

In addition, as we deepen our understanding of the true purpose of prayer, our efforts to convince God to act in certain ways on our behalf will cease. When we realize that God is not the one who needs to change, we can then fulfill our responsibility in gaining the answers we desire. We must mature spiritually so that our choices and actions are more closely aligned with God’s Truth and Good Will for us. Prayer is the means by which this evolution of the soul occurs.


The Prayer for Protection
The Light of God surrounds us.
The Love of God enfolds us.
The Power of God protects us.
The Presence of God watches over us.
Wherever we are, God is, and all is well!
